XENOS
TWO BODIES – TWO HOUSES – TWO STRANGERS
ONE SPACE TO SHARE - ONE SPACE TO FIGTH FOR
UNTOLERANCE – MISUNDERSTANDING –FEAR - COMMUNICATION
Original project created for festival NO – BODY 2011 – Premiere 13.11.2011 in Pallas Theatre Nikosia (Cyprus)
Duration 25 minutes
The performance is developed on the theme of being a foreigner in another country, being a foreigner in the society. The performance tries to uncover the differences between cultures, traditions and people themselves. The project is reflecting actual happening in the world, international relationships and generally attitude of people towards foreigners.
Main theme of performance „Xenos” is based on the feeling of being foreigner and of considering person next to us as foreigner (base or on different nationality of just on the fact, that we don´t know this person). The contradiction is contained in the theme from the very principle. We all have the same cells, muscles, blood – our body is constructed the same way and is functioning the same way. What is foreign, strange – and how do we deal with it?. What are we afraid of? Is the fear only base for hate and intolerance? And many other questions connected with this theme.

NOUVEAOU
The performance is a nonverbal dance piece with projection and original music composed. The collaboration of video artist Sylvia Nicolaid Jana Černá and music composer Angelos Sofokleous resulted in short performance, discussing the nowadays tendency to judge people around, watch and compare them with ourselves. The visual form draws on Art Nouveau’s famous Czech painter Alfons Mucha. The music is originally composed for this piece and is created as reaction on the movement and visual motion. The sound is not only accompanying the movement, but in some moments is leading the situation, influencing the happening on the stage as a leading element. Through the interaction with the projection the performer leads the audience through the story of one day, one moment.
